»Marienthal.
The Sociography of an Unemployed Community« (Leipzig, 1933) has become a classical book of
empirical social research long ago. The success of this study effected, that the name
»Marienthal« is well known among social scientists all over the world. But probably no one knows anything else about this factory and workers' settlement than what is reported in the famous
book.
»Marienthal«
has become a scientific myth, a myth among scholars.
This website offers basic and background information on Marienthal before as well as after the famous study of 1933. Texts, pictures, and documents give a glimpse into the history of Marienthal, into the village and its people, from its beginning until
