The First of May

An important holiday for the workers of Marienthal was the First of May, celebrated in Austria by Social Democrats since 1890. First organized by the non-political workers’ associations of Marienthal – in particular with splendid bicycle parades of the local clubs – the First of May was then organized by the local group of the Social Democratic Party since probably 1907.
