Singing and Music

Singing and music had an important cultural and social function in the life of the Marienthal workers. You can see it in the many choirs, singing-clubs, and music groups, but in addition, the programs of festivities in Marienthal show the prominent role of music. The Men’s Singing Club, »Sociability«, which still exists, was founded in 1871. The Marienthal Singing Section (since 1906 section of the Marienthal Textile Workers Trade Union) was created in 1903. Some music groups, for example, the Kautzky Brothers became famous beyond Marienthal.
